Machupicchu Full Day

One of the Seven Wonders of the World, Machu Picchu deserves all the attention that it gets for being an engineering and architectural masterpiece. Hiram Bingham is credited with bringing Machu Picchu to the rest of the world in 1911. It is the largest of the Peruvian Inca ruins and is believed to have been an important ceremonial site. Visitors will be impressed by the many plazas, temples, houses, storage facilities, sun dials, stairs that are still maintaining their purpose for more than 500 years since they were originally built and subject to intense weather and earthquakes. The natural surroundings only add to an already stunning view and no trip to Peru is complete without a visit to this sanctuary.

We will pick you up early in the morning in order to start the tour. You will be transferred to the train station in Ollantaytambo in order to catch the train to Aguas Calientes. From here you will take a short 30 minute bus ride to the gates of Machu Picchu. A professional guide will lead you through the magnificent citadel and share the secrets of Inca architecture and their way of life.

At 03:55AM we will pick the passengers up from their hotels and drive to the train station at Ollantaytambo, where the train will take you to Machu Picchu (approx.1h 40′). You will take the train at 06:40AM, arriving to Aguas Calientes around 08:00AM. Your guide will meet you at the train station in Aguas Calientes to take you to the bus up to Machu Picchu. The bus ride is about 30 minutes. You should arrive at Machu Picchu around 08:45AM and enter the site.

During a tour through this magnificent site, your bilingual guide will explain all about the historical sanctuary of Machu Picchu and visit all the major sites within the lost city. The guided tour will take around 2:30 to 3 hours. Afterwards, you’ll have free time to wander and admire this awe-inspiring place on your own.

Optional: You can climb the mountain of Huayna Picchu (tickets need to be purchased at the time of your Machu Picchu purchase), which is a 1:30 to 2 hours roundtrip. This trip is without a guide. The entrance time is 10:00AM to 11:00AM, so if you choose to take this tour, your guided tour will be faster in order to finish in time to enter Huayna Picchu.

After the guided tour, you can spend the rest of your time exploring Machu Picchu on your own. If you would like, you can exit the park to eat a snack at the cafe and re-enter the park. Your ticket is good for the entire day. Afterwards we will descend to Aguas Calientes, the town named for its hot springs. Buses leave to Aguas Calientes every 5 minutes (30 minute trip). Then we will return by train to Cusco. You can choose the 4:12PM train to return directly to Cusco or the 7:00PM train to return to Ollantaytambo. The train ride is about 1h40′ minutes.
